Child Development Certificate & Early Childhood Education Units

Continued education is essential in assuming leadership roles in curriculum planning, staff development, and administrative assignments. This sixteen unit course series is designed for classified employees seeking a Child Development Permit or required units.

  • Customizable course offerings based on district needs

  • District rates are available for eligible employees

Coursework

Child Development Dual Enrollment courses meet the academic requirements for an early childhood associate teacher permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

Total program: 16 units

  • Principles of Teaching Young Children

  • Child, Family & Community

  • Health, Safety & Nutrition

  • Early Childhood Observation & Assessment

Undergraduate Degree

Students in the program will be invited to apply as a degree-seeking undergraduate student at University of La Verne and the 16 units would apply towards their bachelor’s degree. If students decide to continue in the Undergraduate Child Development Program there are several paths to choose from.
